Important properties of sports fabrics
A good functional fabric should optimally support the body's own reactions during sporting activity. Ideally, the material should therefore be breathable so that the sweat produced by the body to equalise heat can be wicked away from the body. Breathability is therefore less about breathing and more about the permeability of water vapour.
Furthermore, care should be taken to ensure that a functional fabric is able to wick sweat away from the body and that it dries quickly, which is also known as a quick-drying function. This is why synthetic fibres such as polyester are usually used in the sports sector. However, a blend with e.g. merino wool is also very popular.
A certain amount of elasticity is also important, depending on the desired garment, so that you are not hindered by your own clothing when exercising.
Different types of fabric are of course also suitable for different seasons. In autumn and winter, for example, roughened fabrics with a thermal effect can be used to prevent chilling, while in summer lightweight fabrics are used that should also offer UV protection for outdoor activities, for example.

Care instructions
Functional fabrics are relatively easy to care for. As a rule, they are washed in the washing machine at 30° together with normal laundry and then hung up loosely to dry.
Most synthetic sports fabrics do not need to be ironed as they already dry relatively crease-free. Alternatively, you can do this with an iron on the lowest setting (1 point).
In individual cases, however, it is always important to observe the care labelling of the respective clothing or fabrics, as finishes, different processing methods or blended yarns can result in different care requirements.
