How are faux suede and faux chamois made?

Faux suede is usually made from fine synthetic fibers such as polyester, which are processed into a fabric and stabilized with polyurethane. The surface is then mechanically brushed, creating the typical soft, velvety texture. Finally, the material is dyed and finished to imitate the appearance and properties of real leather.

Faux chamois is usually made from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) or microfiber, which is processed into a gel-like mass. By mixing in and later washing out additives, a fine, porous structure with high water absorption is created. After curing, drying and cutting, a soft, absorbent material with properties similar to real chamois is obtained.

Care instructions

Faux suede and faux chamois can usually be washed in the washing machine on a gentle cycle at 30°C. Bleach, tumble drying and dry cleaning should be avoided. The fabric should only be ironed at a low temperature (iron setting 1).

Some items should only be cleaned with a damp cloth, vacuumed with a smooth upholstery nozzle (without bristles) or brushed with a soft brush. Please note the individual care instructions for each item.
